Dream Summer Wardrobe

How cute is everything going on here?  I always wish I had money when I start thinking about clothes (when?  When am I not?)
But then I'd have to have somewhere to wear my clothes, and let's be honest if I'm not at crew I'm in class, and I don't really bother getting too done up for that.
Anyway, in my rich fantasy life, this is what I would wear when I was just chilling out around the house.  Dream Summer Wardrobe

Which Sister are You?

This probably dates me, but during eighth grade, my friends and I were obsessed with figuring out which one of the girls from the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series we were.
in case you were curious, I'm Bridget.  Bridget
why am I Bridget?  Well, I'm not a ten foot blonde.  Although I am blonde.   Physically, I'm more of a Tibby.  But attitude wise, I'm a Bridget.  Especially as the books go on.  The older Bridget and I get, the more we are like each other.  I'm rockin' the Bridget look right now, 'cause my hair's getting long, and the six seconds I've spent outside have given me quite a tan.

Also, can we talk about how much I am lusting after these two things:

One: a self tanner that won't turn out all streaky.  (even if they say it won't on the bottle, I always end up with weird tiger stripes.

Two: how cool are those shoes?
I need a good pair of running shoes.  My feet are basically completely flat, so I need something with a lot of arch support or they hurt ( I know, I'm like a grandmother already)  but I got really flat feet from my dad.  I know, charming.  At least I got the good vision, too.

But seriously, I'm such a Bridget. Not even funny

Lies People Tell You About Hydration

Crew Team Edition:

#1: Coffee is dehydrating/ bad for you
No.  No it's not.  Coffee is the beverage of the gods. NEXT!
definitely good for me.

#2: You're a coxswain, so it's not really that important for you to stay hydrated
Oh, so you like you're coxswains steering with a crushing migraine and blurry vision, do you?  That sounds safe.  Whichever rower came up with this one must have a death wish.
Also, hydration is important for your voice.  You can't be too thirsty to call power tens.

#3: Don't drink water while you're rowing.
Some rowers don't do it, and I'm always worried they'll pass out by the time we dock.

#4: Gatorade is way better/way worse than water
So Gatorade is not bad for you.  It's good for you.  It's just that a lot of people drink it when they don't need to.  If something is really, really, super out  of the ordinary high intensity, go for gatorade.  Otherwise, water is fine.  And a lot cheaper.  Like, free. I drink a lot of Powerade because my medication is kind of dehydrating and makes me lose way more fluids than normal through sweat so I'm always more dehydrated then I should be.  This is why #2 is such a touchy subject!

#5: All Caffeine is bad for you.
So you know my rant about how coffee is the beverage of the gods?  It's not.  Tea is.  Tea pretty much cures anything.  But  guess what it has in it?  Caffeine.
Also, there's some study out there (google it) that says coffee before a workout is good, because the caffeine pumps you up to work out harder.  Told!

This public service announcement/blog post has been inspired by my nutrition class.  I'm taking nutrition over the summer, and it's pretty much terrifying.  I need to eat better. Just FYI.  It's terrifying.

Ok...

Gotta go finish my lab.

Summertime

Can I just say that I cannot possibly wait much longer?
Summer.
I love summer so much.

I can't wait to start coxing!  (I'm not doing it at school so t should be a nice break).
Not that I want a break from my teammates but...well, you know what I mean.

Also, we're moving this week!
I really like the new house.  Particularly because we have extra rooms.  The landlords are still fixing it up, but I've seen the inside.  One of the extra rooms is a perfect, perfect yoga/dance studio.
And so, of course, I've claimed it.

Potential internship waiting. (More information later, but brace yourself, it's friggin' awesome)

Babysitting job, as well as coxing so I'm finally making good money again!

Mostly I'm just psyched to start coxing with a different boat!  But, here's a sneak peak: it has to do with independent, local farmers.

Amazing!
Ah, I'm so excited my sentences don't even make sense...
off to watch BBC...

Reading: Parisian Chic

Currently reading Parisian  Chic A Style Guide by Ines de la Fressange.
First of all, the book itself is beautiful.

I'm a sucker for a fancy cover.  I highly recommend this book, even if you are not that into the "Parisian" look. The photographs are stunning. It's adorable and charming, and, as it turns out, a lot of this advice is common sense.
Who would have thought?
The one part of this book I don't agree with is "ask yourself if a baseball cap-even the right way around- is really a good idea?"- p. 68
Sox cap for life!
Still, since they don't have the Red Sox in Paris, I guess this book can't exactly be blamed.
Anyway, that's all for now.

What Ails Ye?

I don't have any smart-ass comments.

I am so worn down right now, it's not even funny.  All I want is to go home and sleep under the covers for... oh... I don't know.  Ever?

I'm having a rough week month  semester.

I feel really lonely sometimes.  Even when I'm surrounded by friends.  I guess I'm one of those people who think no one ever understands them.  But I think a lot of the time, I'm right.

My mom always was very strict with me about how I should not be sharing my feelings with strangers.  She had me play my cards close to my chest.  That is one of the reasons I find it hard to talk to people, even today.  Even people who are my friends.  I know she was just trying to protect me, but sometimes carrying everything on your own two shoulders is a little bit too much.
This is part of the reason why I blog. On one level, I really love having this blog as a creative outlet.  I'm into decorating it and constantly updating the technology, and linking my polyvore sets to it.  But also, I have this blog so I can express myself.

I want to be able to have people read my writing.  Writing is one of the few things I've ever had a natural talent for.  Even when I was in grade school, my teachers praised me for coming up with the most creative stories, and believe me, as a kid at a parochial school with a learning disability, you did not get praised very often.

I'm not a business major , or advertising, or marketing major, so I can't say "branding" is something I think about a lot.  (Are marketing majors and advertising majors the same things?)  But what I can say is that this blog definitely "brands" my personality.  It represents a lot of me, but not all of me.  It's parts of me that are very important, surely, but not all the parts.  I've boiled down my personality into something I can offer you as an outline, detailed, though it may be, of my personality.  I don't really think it would be possible for a person to capture their whole personality with just one blog.  Although maybe... I can't say I've every really tried.

So that's the reasoning behind my blog.
I try to be as much of a what-you-see-is-what-you-get kind of blogger (and person, for that matter) and I try to represent as accurate a picture of my thoughts and my life as I can.  On another level, I just want to know that someone, somewhere will read what I've wrote and that maybe someone will notice me and someone will be able to say I've impacted their life. I know that's a little schmaltzy, and I don't really know what this blog has to do with it, but it's my first step.

Anyway, that's all for tonight,

Giant Stack of books on the Middle Ages that are probably from the Middle Ages themselves+ diet coke= First draft, demolished.
Oh, don't worry that pill bottle in the background is vitamin b.

I'm starting to feel seriously sick.
Bad news.
Big regatta this weekend.  Championships.
Why am I not writing full sentences?
I really don't know.
Time to go to sleep.
